CAPFe : Tutorial 1#

Good Day all,
For starters, let me just tell you, we have found a group name! CAPFe, let me explain, The "CAP" in 'CAPFe" is short for Capt. America, the Marvel Comic super hero. And the Fe is short for Ferum which is the scientific term for Iron. Why iron you say? Easy, we. LOVE. ironman. TRALALALALA~ <3

Before i move on, YESTERDAY, we had another in-class activity. Before the long break, We were instructed to prepare a frame from a black mounting board, so we brought it yesterday. And we were given an hour or so, to go around the campus and snap varies of photos with a specific subject. I chose LANDSCAPE.

Well, today we had our first tutorial with Ms Lisa. We presented her our body work for our TV Bookshelf. Thank God she loved the idea! So, we feel awesome right now. Though we only have 1week to complete everything. Yes, dear readers, you have read right. Our deadline is on 4th August 2012. We don't have that much time, but i have a feeling we'll do just fine! AMIN!

So, curious as to what we presented?

Its rather blurry, but our theme is "STEAMPUNK", and our rasional is BACK TO BASIC. We've put a classic entertainment (books) into the the modern entertainment (television). Ironic isnt it?

This is the rough sketches of our project.

So, we'll be going full STEAM ahead. (Pun intended). Have faith in us! We can do it!
Hopefully, the final outcome is as awesome as it is in our heads. InsyaAllah.

oooo BAM!! Furniture Design.

Good day! I know i know. its been a while since my last post. I swear i wanted to post earlier. But heaven forbids, i havent gotten the time. so its rather late. but still. HERE WE GO :D

So on the glorious Tuesday, 14th August 2012,  we were placed into group of 6s, and i was with the fantastic Zue, Aina, Li Wei, Priya, and a new friend, K!! Ms Lisa showed us some slides with photos of some awesome furnitures made of reused and recycled items. I must say most of the work on the slide was absolutely mindblowing. I mean really, the creativity of some people, is outstanding!

Well, anyway. So our first project is to pick a particular furniture and discuss on how to actually create it with recycled and reuseable items, even scraps are welcomed!

(Priya hard at work, snapping all the moments,
Aina jotting down everything,
me, thinking hard)

Priya had suggested we make a lamp using tin can, and from there, one thing led to another. Soon enough, we were overflowing with different and unique ideas for the project. K had also suggested a brilliant idea of our project being a multi-purpose furniture. While at the topic, Zue had also mentioned about turning a small fridge into a bookshelf. After discussing the possibility of it being our project, Aina then mentioned of this old television that her grandmother had been debating on whether to sell or to throw it away as it was just eating up space at her home.

(Aina busy jotting down all our ideas)

As a result of everyone's contribution, we finally decided on the most brilliant idea ever, a bookshelf, built on the insides of an old television. And the best part, we can keep on adding new things to the idea, so it'll be a really environmental-friendly furniture. With this ingenius idea, we'll have to pour our heart and soul into the project as we have a timespan of only 3 weeks.

All i can say for the time being is,

Things are going to get interesting.

"SELF"- PORTRAIT

Hello! Today our dear, Ms Lisa gave us a task to make a self portrait using "trash" or natural items that we can find around campus. Of course that was LOADS of fun. Anyway, i made my self portrait, and as embarrassing as it is, i put  A LOT of effort into creating this portrait. ( Don't mind my left ear being in the shot -.- )

First, i used rolled tissues and coloured it using black marker to make hair to show that i have thick hair. I pasted a flower just for decoration. because i like flowers. And nature. Actually, to be honest., i don't really dislike anything. Hahaha. Besides that, i used different sized dried leaves to make my eyes. Why i used different sizes? SIMPLE, i have slightly slanted Chinese eyes. I also used a leaf as a top because, i found the leaf lying around in the class, so i just pasted that sucker on my paper and then proceed to draw on some jeans and red sneakers. because i absolutely LOVE my red converse sneakers :D And also, I asked a friend to help me draw on some hands, its in those peace signs that most people do in their photos. Well actually, a few have pointed out that  i have this habit of displaying those peace signs from time to time. Haha.

Anyway, I'll have to do a better job in all the assignments and tasks Ms Lisa will give us in the future. That's a promise :)

TILL NEXT TIME,
LISA~
